Spring is finally here and I got the fever, I have been out shopping! Look through all the pages to see what neat stuff i found. Lots of pretty dresses for summer, housewares, well you'll just have to look and see for yourself.
There is an upcoming event in Charlotte on April 30th. that i think will be great fun. It's called the Wallflower's Prom and it features Swing Dance with Live Music. You don't even have to know how to do the Lindy, they will teach you before the dance! And Cheap? Well, it's only $10 a person! It will be held at 501 Hawthorne Lane (UMC Gym). I do believe I have solved the Pay Pal issue. I am sorry for any inconvenience. Great News... We are finally selling on Ebay! Look for us under the user name "Joman62". I hope you enjoy all the wonderful offerings. Right now we have an Original 1977 Star Wars 11 3/4" Luke Skywalker Action Figure for auction. He is complete with all of his clothing, light saber and accessories! He is in near mint condition and has his original box with no rips or tears. You have got to go see this one!
Sales at the shop have been brisk and things are moving in and out of there fast. I have been bringing in new items each week and you can usually find me there from 12-5 on Saturdays. I have been in the shop more frequently and I really enjoy chatting with everyone, I have met so many nice and friendly people.The weather has been really getting nice, so come on in and spend the afternoon! Wow, its been a wild couple of weeks. I am very excited! I have so many cool items that i am having a hard time fitting them in the booth! Therefore, I am putting all Books, Tapes and Videos on sale for 25% off the original price! I am trying my very best to get all the new items inventoried and out to you. I will have pictures up in a few days, although, some of the stuff sold as quickly as I put it out! Just a little teaser... there is lots of Enamelware that came from my Mom and Grandmother in Buffalo, NY. I have an Enamel Top Kitchen Cabinet that is in great shape. I have some wonderful Vintage Lawn Chairs that came from an estate in Pennsylvania. Fabulous Vintage Jewelry that will be coming in hopefully by the end of the week. Vintage Clothing and Accessories will be in soon as well. And if any of you are fans of the TV show "Mad Men", I have lots of Home Furnishings that you will LOVE!

Happy New Year! Many a cocktail was had to ring in the new year. Now it's time for us to make all those New Year's resolutions that we all seem to break. I myself am going to try to get my on line business up and running (I think that was also last years resolution).
I have reduced all the Holiday items by 50%, so get to the Sleepy Poet before it is all gone! I was up North again for the holidays and brought back some really nice goodies. I brought a few in already, watch for the rest in the next week or so. Be sure to check out the merchandise pages to see some of the pictures.

Wow! Where did the time go? I can't believe that November blew by and it's holiday time already. I brought in some great Holiday Finds, lots of vintage Mercury Glass Ornaments and items to beautify your home for the holidays. I have great original gifts for that special person on your list! If your sending out Christmas Cards, you need to see our great boxed set of Vintage Style, Cheeky Cards. We have music Cd's, old and new. It's here! The great weather and all that comes with it! I was working in the shop all day to update and bring you the latest merchandise. We have GREAT COSTUMES and accessories for HALLOWEEN (my favorite time of the year). Wait until you see the pictures. Boy this stuff is moving fast! I had an original, vintage Sailor Suit that i didn't even get a chance to take a picture of before it left the floor. I will try my best to keep it stocked over the next few weeks so that you will have a wide selection. I have lots of collectibles such as Nightmare Before Christmas and The Crow, as well as the most SCARY collection of old and contemporary HORROR FILMS. Hurry in NOW for the best selection!

Well Hellooooo!
Oh my gosh, I brought so many items in over the last couple of weeks, that my shop is just OVERFLOWING with goodies! I went and took pictures and lost my USB cable to download them, now some of those goodies are already gone! My apologies to those folks who like to look on line before coming in. You just really need to come in on a regular basis to see all that's new each week. You know what they say, "here today, gone tomorrow". I will get those pics up today "by hook or by crook" (what does that really mean anyway?). Okay, enough rambling. Time to go to Radio Shack.

Here we are in July already and the Summer is off to a great start. I will be bringing in more great stuff, hopefully by the end of the week. I will get some pictures up for you to preview. I have some fab and funky clothing that you just HAVE to check out! It seems every time I go in to check the shop, I have a naked mannequin due to the sale of her outfit! She is the perfect model, quiet, submissive and undemanding. The MikWright cards have proved to be a great seller! I recently cleaned out a storage shed of lots of vintage smalls and wrought iron plant stands, so look for them too. Be sure to stop into the air conditioned Sleepy Poet on those days when it is too hot to be outside and you need a break from the heat. Stop over at the Cafe for a cool Iced Latte, it will make you feel so much better (it does me!). My family will be coming here from Buffalo at the end of the month and I know they will really a shopping trip in this fabulous mall. I hope you will too.

Well, I am back from Buffalo with all kinds of new finds. It was a super fast trip with lots of family obligations, but I did get to spend Mother's
Day with my son and my Mom, it was wonderful. My car was jammed packed by the first weekend! I sometimes amaze myself at how much stuff I can cram into my little Cavalier. I will get some new pictures of all the goodies up on the website first chance I get.

The weather here in Charlotte has been beautiful. I am busy planting flowers and doing yard work, so I kinda neglected my website a bit, but I am back on track.
I recently put some new finds in the shop that were shipped from up north and I am going to pick up a new shipment and visit with family and friends this week, I am very excited! Mother's Day is right around the corner and I have all kinds of cards and gifts for that special lady in your life. In the shop I have wonderful gift books for mom, sister, etc. for only $4.99! Ok, March came in like a lion, but had better leave like a lamb! The week end was sunny and beautiful and now, not so much.
Today, with the help of a wonderful photographer, Shelby Newman and beautiful model, Lyudmila Trost, I completed a photo shoot to show off some of those fabulous prom dresses that will soon be available in the store and on line for purchase. We had lots of fun and I did the hair and makeup for the first time in a while, It was just like riding a bike. My thanks go out to both of my dear friends for volunteering their time and talents. Just singing to myself. Today has been a wonderful day and I plan to milk it all weekend!

This gal shows you how to do different looks with eye shadows such as a Retro Look, Angelina Jolie, Smokey Eyes and my personal favorite, Kat Von D. Happy New Years Ya'll ! I hope everyone had a great holiday season. I went up north for the holidays expecting a "White Christmas" but alas, there was none. I did have a wonderful time visiting family, however, the time always goes by too fast and I never get to see everyone that I would like to. So it's back to the balmy south with my truck load of goodies to bring you some more fantastic finds. I am very excited about the upcoming year and expect to have a fun and prosperous new year, I hope you do too.

Phew, what a busy weekend. We had a great time at the Curious Cat open house. I in my beautiful emerald green gown with my fur hat, looked like a vision of loveliness (if I do say so myself), right out of the movie "White Christmas" with Bing Crosby. I was so glad to see you all, so many friendly faces. Thank you so much for stopping in. I hope you had a wonderful time shopping, eating and enjoying the merriment.
I am very sad to report that after over 4 years with my very good friends at the Curious Cat, I will be closing my booth at the end of this month. Unfortunately, I too have fallen victim to our recessive economy. I am hoping that this will only be a temporary thing until this country gets rolling again. Go Obama! Be sure to stop in and take advantage of the INCREDIBLE CLEARANCE PRICES on all the remaining merchandise.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Berita & Lanny Stack and Carmen Smith for all their love, support and friendship over the years. They had not only made me a part of their business, but made me feel part of the family too! I will always be grateful and I will miss seeing them on a regular basis. I hope that our relationship flourishes and grows with every passing year. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

The new booth at the Sleepy Poet is just about finished (with the exception of a few cosmetic touches), we are opened for your shopping pleasure. Tip of the week:
One of the absolute best products on the market for restoring old, dull or dry wood furniture is Howard's "Restor-a-Finish". I use it on all my antique furniture with incredible results. It comes in many colors and has saved me a lot of money by restoring the piece rather than having to strip and refinish it. I especially like their "Feed-n-Wax". I have not only used it on wood, but leather and metal as well.
